ABOUT AVENUES FOR JUSTICE: Avenues for Justice (AFJ) was one of the first alternative to incarceration (ATI) programs for youth in the country. Originally known as the Andrew Glover Youth Program, it was founded by Angel Rodriguez, along with his neighbors on the Lower East Side. AFJ has had 40+ years of continuous BIPOC leadership, serving youth and young adults citywide, ages 13 – 24, who are court-involved, incarcerated, or at risk of involvement in the criminal justice system.
Avenues for Justice tracks participants for three years after enrollment. Our most recent recidivism report showed that 97% of AFJ participants were not reconvicted or reincarcerated three years after enrollment into our program.
